I want to share with you in advance some information that will be announced in this week’s Record newspaper. Archbishop has asked me to accept the additional responsibility of becoming the pastor of St. William’s Parish, while continuing as your pastor here at St. Margaret Mary.
I did explain to him with that request, then I would not have the time to do the work of Director of Continuing Education for Priests, a position I have had the past two years. Pastoring two parishes is becoming more and more necessary in our diocese, for example the pastor of St. Patrick’s is also the pastor of St. Boniface, the pastor of Holy Trinity is also the pastor of Holy Name, and the pastor of Epiphany is also the pastor of St. Martin de Porres, to mention a few examples locally. When I was pastor of St. Joseph in Bardstown, I was also pastor of St. Michael’s in Fairfield.
The appointment will not become effective until the usual time in middle June. It will require some additional flexibility on our part, but it is doable, as I have done it before. I do ask your prayers for both of our parishes in this time of transition.
