Snow Day Protocol
In the event of inclement weather, St. Margaret Mary School, in accordance with the Archdiocese, has developed a plan to continue to learn on snow days via distance learning assignments and learning packets. The following guidelines have been developed by the staff and approved by the SAC.
Distance learning assignments will begin on the first snow day. Please note this change.
Archdiocesan policy allows for a maximum of 5 Distance Learning Days during the school year. Any additional inclement weather days will be made up by adding days to the school calendar.
Since Distance Learning Days count as regular school days, attendance must be reported in Sycamore. Parents, or students, must email the homeroom teacher by 10:00 am to report their “presence”. If the email comes through after 10 am, the student will be counted as tardy. If your child is sick, please let the homeroom teacher know.
Parents will be notified if it is a Distance Learning Day via email and a Sycamore text alert.
JK and K students will receive hard copy learning packets, grades 1-3 will be able to access work through the class webpages, and grades 4-8 will post assignments within the Snow Day Website. Teachers will be available between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM via email to answer questions or give feedback.
Students will have up to three days upon return to school to turn in all assignments.This is to assist those who did not have computer access or had technical difficulties.
Students will have assignments for each subject, plus one special area class per snow day.
