AN EVENING OF TAIZÉ PRAYER

A Taizé prayer service is designed for people of all Christian Traditions. It is a meditative service that includes simple, meditative chants sung repeatedly and rich silence. Using just a few words, the songs express a basic reality of faith, quickly grasped by the mind. As the words are sung over many times, this reality gradually penetrates the whole being. Thus, it becomes a way of listening to God.

The Taizé Community is an Ecumenical Christian monastic community in Taizé, Saône-et-Loire, Burgundy, France. It is composed of more than one hundred brothers, from Catholic and Protestant traditions, who originate from about thirty countries around the world.
