Gather the Children (GTC) allows children ages Kindergarten through 2nd grade to interact with each other, their teacher, and with Christ as they learn about God’s Word at a “kid-friendly” level during the Liturgy of the Word at Sunday Mass. The Gospel is read to them and connections are drawn to their own lives, reminding them of how much God loves them.
Children are called forward for dismissal during regular 10:00 a.m. Sunday Mass (when announced). They return to sit with their families after the homily at offertory time. Children gather for a blessing at the altar before being dismissed. No prior sign-up for children is required to join in GTC. Children that are new to St. Margaret Mary or visiting are more than welcome to join!
WANT TO HELP?
If you are a parent or volunteer that would like to share God’s Word with our children, please read more information below and contact Tara Mattingly.
This ministry provides children age 5 (enrolled in Kindergarten) through 2nd Grade (until the reception of Holy Communion) the opportunity to learn about the Gospel on their own level during the Liturgy of the Word at 10:00 a.m. Sunday Mass. Ministers serve in the capacity of preparing easy to lead weekly lessons from a lectionary-based text and sharing the Gospel with our parish children. Other volunteers serve by helping to lead the children to and from the church to listen to God’s Word. Time Commitment: Approximately 30 minutes each Sunday. Additional 20-30 minute commitment for preparation needed each week if teaching.
