Reconciliation

Sacrament of Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation (Penance) is an experience of the gift of God’s boundless mercy.  Not only does it free us from our sins but it also challenges us to have the same kind of compassion and forgiveness for those who sin against us.  We are liberated to be forgivers. We obtain new insight into the words of the Prayer of St. Francis: “It is in pardoning that we are pardoned.” Reconciliation is offered on Saturdays 3:30 – 4:30pm or by appointment at other times.

First Reconciliation for Children

Parents have a special role in teaching their children about God’s forgiveness by offering their forgiveness when a child has sinned against them or when seeking forgiveness from their child.

In addition to classroom instruction, the parish will assist you in preparation for your child’s First Reconciliation. You will be invited to a Parent’s Night where you will be provided some updates on the Church’s teachings about the sacrament as well as materials to better prepare yourself and your family for celebrating the sacrament.

May this be a blessed time for you and your family the reception of a gift that offers a lifetime of healing and forgiveness from God. Please contact Tara Mattingly (tmattingly@stmm.org) for more information on First Reconciliation for your child.
