The CSAA Board of Directors met this morning to discuss fall athletics and decided it was in the best interest of the athletes, officials, and fans to cancel all fall sports. Here is the message that was sent to the A.D.’s of each parish-
For immediate Release:
The CSAA Board of Directors met on August 19th to discuss fall sports. After much discussion, the board decided that in our current environment, we cannot safely offer fall sports. The football, volleyball, and cross country seasons are canceled. No CSAA member/parish can offer or sponsor or field these sports.
This discussion was made considering the health and welfare of those who will participate; players, officiants, and fans. At this time, safety must be our only concern.
God Bless You,
Fr. Tom Gentile
Chair of the Board of Directors
In addition to football, volleyball, and cross country, we will also be cancelling K-2 soccer, flag football, and Powderpuff football. While the athletic ministry is disappointed for the kids, we understand why this was done and will always put the safety of our children first. We will continue to support and work with Father Bill & Ms. Sims, the school & parish staff, and the PTO & SAC in any way possible to make this a successful school year for our children. We will be sending out a separate notice concerning refunds, please be patient as we will be using a new system to process everything.
Lastly, we will be announcing in a few weeks some alternatives to organized sports for your children. If you are interested in hearing more about our upcoming plans, please register on our athletics website, www.smmathletics.com.
We will keep everyone informed of any developments regarding winter sports as soon as the CSAA makes this information available to us.
Please stay safe and healthy,
Chris Schneidtmiller, SMMAM President Patrick Herm, SMMAM Vice-President
