LAROSA PSALMS

We will typically use the metered version of the LaRosa psalms, unless otherwise noted on the music plans. Also, some of her psalms have a sung “coda/ending”, which can be omitted…our practice will be to end the refrain as it is sung throughout the Responsorial Psalm, no extra phrases added. Many LaRosa psalms have been updated since last year, please download the most recent version from the shared folder.

HYMNAL RESOURCES

Cantor Shelf Hymnals: Journeysongs; Gather 4; Gather 3, Choose Christ, Spirit & Song
In the back room behind the organ I have the following resources available:
Keyboard Cabinet: Journeysongs; Gather 4; Gather 3; Green Gather; Choose Christ; Spirit & Song; Lead Me, Guide Me
Guitar/Instrumentalist Cabinet: Journeysongs Guitar; Journeysongs Instrumental; Gather 4 C Instrument; Choose Christ Guitar; Spirit & Song Guitar

I try my best to maintain a printed copy of any sheet music not in those resources in the binder in the piano bench.
There is always a copy of every song for the liturgy prepare in the cantor binder. I’m always willing to provide printed copies of music in advance, but I need at least 48 hours notice in the rare case I am not around when you ask.

MASS SETTING FOR ORDINARY TIME
Cantor Notes: Please make sure to have confidence in the new Mass setting and clearly articulate the words. If the cantor isn’t confidently singing the music, the assembly tends to get insecure and sings less.
(*A troublespot is measure 10 in the ‘Holy’ – count to 3, breath on 4, then come in on ‘Hosanna’ – I’ve heard this entrance early a few times – enjoy the opportunity for breath that I’ve given you! 😊*)

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION VERSES: If you have any difficulty understanding how to read/sing the Gospel Acclamation Verses for each week, just let me know and I’ll be happy to explain it.  I will provide PDFs and recordings for each week here.

SATB parts are available now!

If you made it to this part of the newsletter, send Dr. Holly a message or picture of your favorite Fall activity and she’ll offer up a Hail Mary for you.
